Himalayas is lying in the north-west of Uttaranchal,
in the 6 districts of Dehradun, Pauri,
Tehri, Uttarkashi, Rudaprayag and Chamoli.

the pioneers climbers as H.W. Tilman, Eric Shipton and Frank Smythe,
Garwhal
Himalayas have remained vitually unknown outside India.
Its
attraction lies in some of the finest peaks of Himalaya, the dense forests
covering the slopes
and
many trails passing through quiet villages...

the city of Joshimath
The
Adventure Trekking office is situated
in
the center of Joshimath (1870 m.)
Joshimath
lays on the slopes of the mountains above the rivers Alknanda en Dhauliganga
and
has many important temples, inclusive the temple of Ugra Narshima, which is
dedicated
to
the half human/half lion incarnation of the God Vishnu.
Adi
Guru Shankaracharya, who came from Kerala (south of India) arrived in the
8th century,
gave
all world luxury, became a vegetarian and meditated under a tree
untill
he was enlighted. Then he started a MATH (meditation place/ temple),
named
“Jyotirmath” ('jyoti' means light). The name Joshimath
comes from it.
The
temples of Narsingh, dedicated toVishnu in his lionform and Nav Durga are
situated here.
