KALLAKHAL - KANARIKHAL TREK
Region : Garhwal Himalayas
Duration : 10 / 12 days
Altitude : 5200 mts.
Grade : Difficult / challenging
Place covered : Rishikesh (340m) : Joshimath (1890m) : Malarie
(2160m) : Kanarikhal (4890m) : Kallakhal (5180m).
Best Season : May / June / July / September / October.
It is most beautiful, isolated and not much frequently route,
it is greatest opportunity to visit this beautiful spot, which is famous for
its enchanting snow-capped peaks and high passes. There are many big streams
which roar during summer and monsoon. The main hurdle involved reaching to
Kanari Khal is two passes, near by Kallakhal and bagni kharak. The view from
Kallakhal is negotiable, the rising towering Lampka peak is the main
exciting scenery of this region, although there are many unnamed peaks above
6000m, which provide the best scenery of this region. A number of springs
and stream involve while on trekking, to cross this passes and streams is
challenging and exciting. |
Day 1 : Rishikesh - Joshimath DRIVE 8 /
9 HRS : OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Drive to Joshimath 253 km. 8 / 9 hours, Overnight stay at the hotel
Day 2 : Joshimath - OVERNIGHT - HOTEL
Day for obtaining inner line permit and other official work. Afternoon visit
Auli Ski Resort. Overnight at the hotel or Camp.
Day 3 : Joshimath - Jumma - Dronagiri
village DRIVE 3 HRS : TREK 5-6 HRS : OVERNIGHT CAMP.
Drive 47 km to Jumma and trek 5-6 hrs to Dronagiri village via Ruing and
Chiyacha. Trail though huge dense forest, a steep climb from Ruing till
Dronagiri. Evening explore the beautiful village situated in a lap of Dronagiri
Bamak (Col). Set up the camp for the overnight stay.
Day 4 : Dronagiri village-Bagni Bamak
Base Camp : TREK 5-6 HRS : OVERNIGHT CAMP.
Trek 5-6 hrs to Base Camp via Dronagiri Kol and Dronagiri Gad. The trek commands
through moraine and boulder area, further crossing a stream , we trek ascend to
Bagni Bamak, whole area is Bolder, the voice of breaking glaciers , roaring
streams from glaciers make the region horrible, further we trek 2 kms to Bagni
glaciers. Set up the camp for the overnight stay.
Day 5 : Bagni Glacier or Base Camp
The Day is free to explore the area. One can enjoy the lofty peaks Changbang ,
Garure Dome , Kalanka and many other snow-capped peak above 6000mts. They appear
so near while it look to touch them with finger. Bagni glacier is covered with
beautiful snow-capped peaks, stream and springs. Overnight in tents.
Day 6 : Bagini Base-Dronagiri Village
TREK 4-5 Hrs OVERNIGHT CAMP
Trek 4-5 hrs to Dronagiri village via Dronagiri Gad and Dronagiri Kol. Arrive
and set up the camp for the overnight stay.
Day 7 : Dronagiri - Kanarikhal TREK 4-5
HRS OVERNIGHT CAMP
Today our trek proceeds through big passes and streams. Till to reach Kanarikhal
the trail leads up and down with crossing glacier and roaring streams. Atlast 1
hrs trek through thick forest till we reach up to Kanarikhal. One can see easily
the towering peak Lampak , rising in front of Kanarikhal. O/N - Camp.
Day 8 : Kanari khal - Garpak TREK 5-6
HRS OVERNIGHT CAMP
Trek 5-6 hrs up to Garpak village via Kanari Khal pass. Enroute one have to
cross the tough pass Kanarikhal. This is tiring day till to reach Garpak, a
steep ascend. Set up the camp near by village for the overnight stay.
Day 9 : Kalla Khal Base - Niti TREK 6-7
HRS OVERNIGHT CAMP
Trek to Malari 6-7 hrs a beautiful village in the Niti Valley. Today the trek is
steep till to reach Niti , crossing some beautiful steams and Dhauli Ganga near
Niti. Niti is a tiny last boarder village situated in Chamoli district. Explore
the boarder village and have a look at there culture and their beautiful life.
Set up the camp for the overnight stay.
Day 10 : Niti - Joshimath TREK 2 HRS
DRIVE 5-6 HRS OVERNIGHT HOTEL.
Today we descend down to Malarie via Gamsali , the trail passes through Dhauli
ganga. Our coach / jeep will be waiting for our arrival at Gamsali.Drive 65 kms
to Joshimath via Jumma, Lata, Rini and Tapovan. Upon arrival check in the Hotel
for the overnight stay.
Day 11 : Joshimath - Rishikesh DRIVE 8-9
HRS OVERNIGHT HOTEL / CAMP
Trace our step back to Rishikesh , drive 253 kms to Rishikesh. Overnight stay in
hotel / Camp.
